A woman will face court next month after refusing to submit to a breath test and assaulting a police officer on the state’s Mid North Coast yesterday.
About 3.10pm (Sunday 1 March 2020), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol were called after reports a silver Mitsubishi Mirage was driving erratically on Reserve Road, Forster.
Police patrolling the area located the car and activated their warning lights.
The driver, an 18-year-old woman, underwent a roadside breath test and allegedly returned a positive result.
The woman was arrested and taken to Forster Police Station, where she allegedly became highly aggressive, threatened officers and damaged police property.
She then failed to provide a sufficient breath analysis sample, before allegedly assaulting a senior constable.
The woman was charged with refuse or fail to submit to breath analysis, destroy or damage property and assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm. Her Provisional P1 license was suspended immediately.
She was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Forster Local Court on Wednesday 15 April 2020.
