NSW police charge woman after spitting at police at Broken Hill

A woman will face court after she allegedly spat at police during an arrest at Broken Hill early this morning.

About 2am (Wednesday 5 May 2021), police attached to the Barrier Police District attended Ryan Street after receiving reports that a woman was attempting to gain entry.

Police entered the house and located a woman hiding under a table. During the arrest police will allege she coughed in the faces of the officers.

As police were removing her from the caged-truck she allegedly spat saliva – mixed with blood – in the face of an arresting officer.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics arrived, and the xx-year-old woman was taken to Broken Hill Base Hospital for treatment before being transferred to Broken Hill Police Station.

She was charged with two counts of assault police.

The woman was refused bail and will appear in Broken Hill Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 6 May 2021).

The officers were treated at the scene and will undergo testing.
