A woman will face court today charged over an alleged fraud relating to a disaster relief scheme in the state’s Central West.
In October 2021, officers attached to Chifley Western Region Enforcement Squad commenced an investigation into reports of alleged fraudulent claims for the NSW Government disaster recovery payment scheme.
During the investigation, officers identified that during October 2021 a woman allegedly lodged a number of fraudulent payment applications to the value of $68,000.
Following inquiries, officers arrested a 23-year-old woman at a home on Katoa Place, Orange about 12.20pm yesterday (Thursday 25 November 2021).
She was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with five counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and make false document to obtain financial advantage.
The woman was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today (26 November 2021).
