NSW police charge woman over her role in murder at Albury

A woman will appear in court tomorrow charged over her role in the alleged murder of a man near Albury.

Detectives from Murray River Police District commenced an investigation under Strike Force Demetrius into the disappearance of William Chaplin who hasn’t been seen in almost a decade.

William Chaplin, then aged 25, was last seen in Gerogery, about 30km north of Albury, in early to mid-May 2010.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators arrested a 32-year-old woman at Albury Police Station today (Wednesday 18 September 2019), in connection to the murder.

She has now been charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder and was refused bail to appear before Albury Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 19 September 2019).

The woman is the second person to be charged in connection with the alleged murder.

A 25-year-old man remains before the courts charged with murder, after he was extradited from Queensland earlier this month.

Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Demetrius investigators is urged to contact Albury Police Station on 6023 9299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police inquiries are continuing.
