NSW police charge woman over large-scale fraud in Sydney’s west

A woman faced court today charged over the large-scale fraud and theft of commercial hire equipment.

In September 2019, detectives from Cumberland Police Area Command launched an investigation into the large-scale fraud and theft of commercial hire equipment from businesses in Auburn, Seven Hills and Campbelltown.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 33-year-old woman at a home on Ashcroft Street, Ermington, yesterday (Monday 28 October 2019).

Police seized unreturned hire cars, an Isuzu Tipper truck and other vehicles. A bobcat, valued at $55,000, was previously recovered from a Guildford home.

The woman was taken to Granville Police Station where she was charged with two counts of larceny as bailee property value more than $15000, two counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, larceny as bailee property value more than $5000, and dishonestly obtain property by deception.

Police will allege in court; the woman defrauded the company of equipment of almost $285,000.

She appeared at Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 29 October 2019) and was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 11 December 2019.
