NSW police investigate affray and stabbing at Castle Hill

Police are appealing to the community for information after a teenager was stabbed during an altercation with another group of teens in The Hills District at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Fred Caterson Reserve, on Caterson Drive, Castle Hill, about 2.50pm yesterday (Sunday 20 November 2022), where they found a 15-year-old boy with a stab wound.

Police have been told the teen had met up with two friends at the showground before walking to the reserve, where the group met with another group in the car park.

Following a verbal altercation, the situation escalated, becoming physical and a knife and a hammer were produced.

During the melee, the boy received a stab wound to his chest before the other group fled the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and Care Flight provided life-saving treatment before the teen was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where he underwent surgery. It is believed he is in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from The Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Local detectives have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
