Shoalhaven women recognised among NSW’s best in local government

Council is celebrating the success of three outstanding employees who were recognised at the 2026 Ministers’ Awards for Women in Local Government at Parliament House today.

City Performance Director, Katie Buckman, People and Culture Manager, Amanda Crangle and Wastewater Operations Manager, Keira Whitford were each recognised at the awards which celebrate women in councils whose enduring contributions have helped build stronger communities across the state.

Mayor Patricia White said the awards were a well-deserved acknowledgement of the remarkable talent, leadership and dedication within Council.

“We are incredibly proud to see three outstanding women recognised at the highest level of local government in NSW,” Cr White said.

“Their professionalism and commitment to serving the Shoalhaven community inspire those around them and demonstrate the important contribution women make across all areas of local government.

“Katie, Amanda and Kiera should be incredibly proud of this recognition. Their contributions have made a real difference to Council and our community, and it’s wonderful to see their efforts acknowledged,” she said.

The awards delivered strong results for Council, with one winner and two highly commended recipients recognised on the day.

Amanda Crangle won the Excellence in Mentoring and Sponsorship Award.

Katie Buckman received a Highly Commended in the Woman of Distinction category.

Keira Whitford received a Highly Commended in the Rising Star category.

“These awards recognise three women whose leadership, integrity and service help shape a strong and positive workplace culture. I thank them for the example they set and the lasting impact they have across Council,” said CEO Andrew Constance.

Recognition across three categories reflects the diverse skills and experience within Council’s workforce, from leadership and organisational culture to trade apprenticeships and emerging talent.

The awards were presented by Minister for Local Government Ron Hoenig and Minister for Women Jodie Harrison.
