NSW police investigate after man’s body found at Port Macquarie

Police have launched an investigation after a man’s body was found on the state’s Mid North Coast.

About 8.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 4 May 2021), emergency services responded to reports that a man had set fire to a chair on the balcony of a unit on Hill Street, Port Macquarie.

A short time later, officers found a 54-year-old man with a fire extinguisher lying in a garden bed below the balcony.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to revive the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death under Strike Force Fernyhough.
