NSW Police issue new coronavirus fines and notices 13 May

Police have charged two people under the Public Health Act 2010 (NSW) and issued two COVID-19-related Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) for offences within the past 24 hours.

Yesterday’s charges:

  • About 1.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 May 2020), officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended a home on Cross Street, Balgowlah, to assist NSW Ambulance paramedics with the transport of a patient. While attempting to assist the 41-year-old man, he allegedly spat at police and NSW Ambulance paramedics and became violent. He was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital for assessment. At the completion of the assessment, he was released into police custody and taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with three counts of assault, and not comply with noticed direction (COVID-19). He was refused bail and will appear in Manly Local Court today (Wednesday 13 May 2020).
  • About 4.30pm yesterday, officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were patrolling the Randwick area when they spoke to a woman sitting on a footpath. Checks revealed the 41-year-old woman was in breach of her bail conditions. When police informed the woman she was under arrest, she allegedly began to yell, swear and kick at police. She was charged with breach of bail, use offensive language in public place, resist officer in execution of duty, and not comply with noticed direction (COVID-19). She was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today.

Yesterday’s PINs:

  • About 2pm yesterday, officers from St George Police Area Command were patrolling the Mortdale area when they spoke to four male teenagers. Checks revealed one of the boys, a 14-year-old, had received multiple warnings for leaving home without a reasonable excuse, and he was subsequently issued a PIN. The three other youths were issued with warnings.
  • About 8.30am yesterday, police attended a premises on Carlton Rd, Carlton, and spoke with a 30-year-old man, who was unable to provide a reasonable excuse for being away from his home. Checks revealed he had previously been issued with a warning for not complying with a ministerial direction. He was subsequently issued a PIN.
