NSW police lay charges after cocaine worth $100,000, $46,000 cash and prohibited weapons seized

Redfern RES investigators have charged a man after seizing cocaine worth $100,000, more than $46,000 cash and several prohibited weapons at a home in Sydney’s south.

About 2.10pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 November 2020), Redfern RES investigators stopped a blue Range Rover Sport at Port Hacking Road, Caringbah South.

In a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers seized a set of gold knuckledusters.

The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station.

A short time later, Redfern RES investigators, with assistance from the Central Metropolitan Operations Support Group (OSG), conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) and Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) search at a home at Caringbah South.

During the search, officers seized a number of prohibited weapons including two replica firearms, a zombie knife, a sheath knife, a compound bow and three additional sets of knuckle dusters.

Investigators also seized nearly 234g of cocaine, which has an estimated potential street value of $100,000.

Further prohibited drugs including MDMA, cannabis and anabolic steroids, as well as equipment consistent with the supply of illicit substances were seized.

More than $46,000 cash and 100 personal identification documents – including several NSW drivers’ licences – were also seized.

All items located during the operation will undergo further examination.

The man was charged with 16 offences including;

  • Possess unauthorised firearm (x2),
  • supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity),
  • possess prohibited drug (x2),
  • possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x7),
  • deal with property proceeds of crime,
  • goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle),
  • acquire firearm (subject to prohibition order),
  • use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order.

The man was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 12 November 2020).
