In September 2021, officers attached to New England Police District Proactive Crime Team established Operation Impact, a high-visibility police operation targeting property-related offences in the local area.

As part of ongoing operations, police were deployed to the Moree and Boggabilla townships between Thursday 27 January 2022 and Sunday 30 January 2022.

In total, four outstanding warrant offenders were located, and six people were arrested for a range of offences including assault, break and enter, drug possession and high range drink-driving.

Of note, officers attended a home on Jacaranda Drive, Moree, as part of ongoing inquiries into alleged firearm offences about 5pm on Friday (29 January 2022).

A 19-year-old woman was located hiding under a bed and arrested.

She was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with two counts of supply prohibited firearm to unauthorised person, nine counts of supply firearm to person unauthorised to possess it, receive/dispose stolen property, supply shortened firearm (not pistol) to other, and supply/give ammunition to person not authorised.

The woman was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Moree Local Court on Tuesday 29 March 2022.
