NSW police lay charges after man stabbed at Bargo

A man has been charged after a man was allegedly stabbed with a sword in Bargo at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a service station on the Hume Highway, Pheasants Nest, about 11.45pm on Saturday (7 November 2020).

Officers from Camden Police Area Command attended, along with paramedics and found a 34-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest.

Police have been told the injured man had been picked up by a family member near the railway overpass on Remembrance Drive at Bargo and was being driven to hospital when his condition deteriorated, and emergency services were alerted.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in a critical but stable condition.

Detectives commenced an investigation and following inquiries, a 28-year-old man was arrested at Thirlmere about 6.45pm yesterday (Monday 8 November 2020).

He was taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with reckless wounding, and common assault.

Police will allege in court that the two men, who are known to each other, were involved in an altercation on Great Southern Road before the injured man was stabbed with a samurai sword.

The Bargo man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Picton Local Court on Tuesday 15 December 2020.
