NSW police lay charges after Wynyard stabbing

A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a man during a fight in Sydney’s CBD this week.

About 6pm on Thursday 5 November 2020, emergency services were called to a licensed premise on York Street, Wynyard, after reports a man was stabbed during a fight.

Police will allege five men became involved in an argument with staff where an employee, a 34-year-old man, was stabbed. The men then fled the scene.

The employee was treated for wounds to his back and side, before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for surgery, where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation with three men arrested nearby. Two men, aged 31 and 29, were charged and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, a 19-year-old man was arrested at Green Valley Police Station.

He was transferred to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The Bonnyrigg Heights man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 7 November 2020).
