NSW police lay charges over indecent acts on Sydney trains

A man will face court today charged over a spate of alleged indecent acts on Sydney trains.

The Police Transport Command commenced an investigation into four separate incidents on Sydney trains in November 2018 and June 2019.

Police will allege a man performed a sexual act on himself while sitting next to female commuters travelling on trains throughout Sydney on three separate occasions in November 2018.

In the latest incident, a woman boarded a northbound train at Central Station on Monday 3 June 2019. A man got on at Wynyard Station and sat next to her; it’s alleged the man began performing a sexual act on himself shortly after.

The woman requested the man stop and move away from her. The man moved, and the woman approached the guard’s compartment and contacted police while at Milsons Point Station.

The man got off at North Sydney Station.

Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal, investigators arrested a 29-year-old man at a North Manly home just after 8am yesterday (Tuesday 25 June 2019).

He was taken to Manly Police Station and charged with three counts of commit act of indecency with person 16 years or over, and wilful and obscene exposure in/near public place/school.

The man was refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court today (Wednesday 26 June 2019).
