A confirmed stolen vehicle, used to ram two police cars and injure one officer, has been found burnt out in Bourke this morning.
About 11.20pm yesterday (Tuesday 28 July 2020), a silver Toyota Kluger was reported stolen from a motel on Mitchell Street, Bourke.
Local police were patrolling the area when they noticed the vehicle on Mitchell Street and commenced a pursuit when it failed to stop; however, it was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
Officers were conducting inquiries at Mitchell Street when the Toyota entered the carpark of a service station at the intersection of Warraweena Street and collided with the rear of a police vehicle.
The Toyota accelerated away and soon after was seen by police driving on Mitchell Street before stopping near the intersection of Glen Street.
A police vehicle travelling behind, stopped a short distance away and the Toyota reversed, crashing into the front of the police vehicle before speeding away.
The driver, a female sergeant, suffered minor injuries but did not require further treatment.
About 2.50am this morning (Wednesday 29 July 2020), officers patrolling Bourke township found the Toyota burnt out on the corner of Anson and Yanda Streets.
Fire and Rescue NSW were in attendance and extinguished the blaze, the car was completely destroyed.
