NSW police pursuit, firearm and drugs seized; Man and woman arrested

A man and a woman have been arrested following a pursuit with police in Chester Hill today.

About 11am today (Wednesday 2 September 2020), police were alerted to a silver Corolla travelling on Orchard Road, Chester Hill.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attempted to pull the vehicle over; however, it failed to stop.

A pursuit was initiated, and police will allege, that as the vehicle continued along Kamira Avenue an amount of drugs was thrown from the car. As the vehicle turned onto Koonoona Avenue a firearm was also thrown from the vehicle.

The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns, and police were able to locate and seize a .22 sawn-off shotgun, along with an amount of methamphetamine.

About 1.30pm today, the Corolla was found parked on Edmondson Crescent in Carramar. Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command, with the assistance of officers from Fairfield, arrested a man, aged 48, and a woman as they returned to the vehicle.

They were both taken to Bankstown Police Station where they are assisting with inquiries.

Meanwhile, a search was conducted on a premises in Orchard Road, Chester Hill, where police seized found a number of prohibited knives.
