NSW police update: Manslaughter charges laid after man’s death at Hurstville

A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a man who was assaulted in Hurstville last month.

Officers from St George Police Area Command have been investigating after a man was injured in an assault about 3.15am on Saturday 21 March 2020.

The 23-year-old suffered critical head injuries and was taken to St George Hospital where he died on Monday 23 March.

Following inquiries, four men were charged with affray and remain before the courts.

Detectives laid an additional charge of manslaughter, as well as two counts of assault, on a 24-year-old man when he appeared in Sutherland Local Court today (Tuesday 7 April 2020).

A co-accused – 22-year-old Hurstville man – has been charged with three counts of assault.

Both were given strict bail conditions to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 9 June 2020.
