Nominations arenow open for the 2019 Northern Territory Aboriginal and Torres Strait IslanderHealth Worker and Practitioner Excellence Awards.

These awardsacknowledge the outstanding contribution by our highly valued Aboriginal HealthWorker and Aboriginal Health Practitioner workforce.

These professionals play a vital role in thedelivery of health services across the NT to Aboriginal clients in urban,regional and remote areas, said Joanne Norton, Executive Director, People andOrganisational Capability.

They are oftenthe first point of contact for people seeking health services, and provide aconduit between traditional health and western medical services.

The awardcategories are:

  • RemoteAboriginal Health Worker
  • UrbanAboriginal Health Worker
  • RemoteAboriginal Health Practitioner
  • UrbanAboriginal Health Practitioner
  • SpecialistAboriginal Health Practitioner
  • NewPractitioner
  • StudentAward
  • HonourRoll

The recipientswill be announced at a presentation in Darwin on Friday 13 September 2019.

These awards areheld in partnership with the Australian Government Department of Health, RotaryClub of Darwin Sunrise, United Voice and Aboriginal Medical Services AllianceNorthern Territory.
