Territory Families

Two passionate young Territorians have been selected to promote and coordinate the Northern Territory’s most exciting week of youth events – NT Youth Week 2020.

Eytahnyia Scott a 21 year old from Darwin and 17 year old Sean Xiao from Alice Springs have been selected as the 2020 NT Youth Week Ambassadors. The duo will provide a young person’s perspective in the planning, development and promotion of activities and events targeting young people across the Territory.

This year NT Youth Week is on from 14 to 24 April 2020 with ‘Empower 2020’ as the theme to encourage young people to achieve their dreams and speak up during decision-making.

Territory Families Chief Executive Ken Davies said NT Youth Week recognises and celebrates the positive contributions young people make to our community and makes sure their voices are not only heard but listened to.

“NT Youth Week Ambassadors are leaders in our community and act as agents of change by sharing ideas and raising important issues for young Territorians,” he said.

“I would like to congratulate these two outstanding young people on becoming the youth representatives of such an important series of events.

“NT Youth Week is the largest celebration of young people in the Territory and encourages young Territorians to express ideas, raise concerns, act on issues while celebrating and recognising the important contributions they make,” he said.

Alice Springs NT Youth Week Ambassador Sean Xiao said, he hopes to use his role to celebrate the positive work young people do and to do his best to make the community a better place.

“Through this opportunity I hope to empower young people to work with Government and organisations to make NT Youth Week as good as it gets,” he said.
