NTEU welcomes jobs and skills summit as opportunity to tackle insecure work and wage theft

The National Tertiary Education Union welcomes the Prime Minister’s announcement of a national jobs and skills summit to be held in September.

“We look forward to discussing the deeply problematic levels of insecure employment, wage theft, sexual harassment and the gender pay gap in universities,” said NTEU National President Dr Alison Barnes.

“We want the federal government to implement recommendations from the ALP-led Senate Select Committee on Job Security inquiry including the introduction of measures to ensure casual conversion in higher education and legislation to criminalise wage theft and chronic underpayments.
