Police have taken swift action and put two people before the Court following a burglary at a Sunnynook dairy on Tuesday night.
Police responded to a report of the burglary around 10.18pm where it is alleged a vehicle was used to gain entry to the Tonkin Drive store.
While those responsible were not initially located during area enquiries, the vehicle believed to have been used to gain entry was later located in the Birkenhead area.
A short time later, Police observed a vehicle driving dangerously in the Papakura area and was signalled to stop by Police, however left the area at speed.
While no pursuit was initiated, Police monitored the vehicle as it travelled in a concerning manner through the area until it was spiked on Great South Road.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop in Ōtāhuhu where two people were taken into custody without incident.
Two 17-year-old males have appeared in the Manukau Youth Court today on charges relating to burglary and the unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
Waitematā East Area Commander Inspect Stefan Sagar says we hope this swift arrest brings reassurance to the community we are holding those believed to be responsible to account.
“We understand these types of incidents can cause immense concern and we are pleased to have resolved this incident quickly for the victim involved.
“Police are also following up with the victim to ensure further support is available to them.”
