An off-duty police officer has been charged after an investigation into a serious crash in Sydney’s north west late last year.
About 5.40pm on Tuesday 23 December 2025, emergency services were called to the intersection at Garfield Road East and Picadilly Street, at Riverstone, after reports of a crash involving a sedan and motorcycle.
The rider, a 19-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver, a 33-year-old man, was uninjured and taken for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.
Following inquiries, the driver – who is a senior constable attached to a North West Metropolitan Region – was issued a Court Attendance Notice for the offence of Negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm) and Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).
He is due to appear before Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday 28 July 2026.
