OMCG armed break and enter at Gold Coast

Detectives from the Organised Crime Gangs Group have charged two men following investigations into an alleged armed break and enter on the Gold Coast.

Police will allege at approximately 2am on Wednesday January 3, four men armed with weapons entered a house in Labrador.

The elderly female occupant of the house was not injured.

The men were captured on CCTV travelling in a Volkswagen Golf and it will be alleged the vehicle was stolen from Tarragindi on the evening of December 28, 2023.

As a result of investigations search warrants were executed in Pimpama and Upper Coomera over the weekend where police located a number of items including the stolen vehicle, a double barrel sawn off shotgun, shotgun shells, a number of dangerous drugs, weapons, a large amount of cash and suspected stolen jewellery.

A 29-year-old man, who police will allege is a Mongols OMCG member, was charged with one count each of enter with intent with circumstance of aggravation, unlawful use of a motor vehicle with circumstance of aggravation, possess category A firearm (shotgun), possess shortened firearm (shotgun), possess category M weapon (knuckle dusters), possess explosives (ammunition), possess dangerous drugs, possess restricted drug, possess drug utensil and three counts of breach of bail.

He appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody to reappear on 18 January 2024.

A 32-year-old man, who police will allege is a Mongols OMCG associate, was charged with one count each of enter with intent with circumstance of aggravation, unlawful use of a motor vehicle with circumstance of aggravation, disqualified driving, possess relevant substance or things, possess medicines, possess tainted property and six counts of breach of bail.

He appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday and was remanded in custody to reappear on 18 January 2024.

Investigations are continuing to locate the two outstanding men involved and police do not believe the men pose a threat to the general community.
