One arrested, investigation underway after shots fired during armed robbery, NSW

A man has been arrested and an investigation has commenced following an armed robbery, during which shots were fired, at a shopping centre in Sydney’s west.

About 4.45pm (Monday 24 October 2022), emergency services were called to a jewellery store inside a shopping centre on Kurrajong Road, Carnes Hill, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told two males entered the store and smashed glass display cabinets, before a firearm was discharged, and the men fled the scene with jewellery.

There have been no reports of physical injuries.

Upon arrival, police were directed to a motorcycle that was outside the shopping centre.

The male pillion passenger was arrested by police, and the motorcycle fled the scene. During a search of the man, police seized a firearm and various items of jewellery.

A large-scale search is now underway, with assistance from neighbouring commands and specialist police.

A crime scene has been established by Liverpool City Police Area Command, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.
