One dead; two critically injured during storm in Northern Beaches

One person has died, and two others have been critically injured by a fallen tree during a storm on Sydney’s Northern Beaches today.

From 3.30pm (Sunday 19 December 2021), emergency services received multiple reports of storm damage across the Northern Beaches area with trees and powerlines down across suburbs from Mona Vale to Forestville.

Of note, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, Fire & Rescue NSW, and the Westpac helicopter responded to a carpark on Ocean Street, Narrabeen, after reports a tree and powerlines had come down.

One person was declared deceased, while two others were critically injured and transported to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The area is still considered hazardous, and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

In order to stay safe, you should treat all powerlines as if they are ‘live’.
