A Sydney man, 50, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in Sydney Downing Centre Court on 8 September, 2022 for trafficking cocaine.
Operation Ironside intelligence revealed the Maroubra man was involved in the trafficking of cocaine on an ongoing basis.
In June 2021, the man was arrested and charged after AFP officers found about $324,175.00 in cash and about 1.1 kilograms of cocaine hidden behind kickboards in the kitchen of his home.
AFP Detective Acting Inspector Paul Watt said the outcome should send a strong message that people involved in supplying and trafficking drugs would be tracked down and brought to justice.
“There is violence throughout the illicit drug supply chain and we are working hard to pursue and stop those who are trying to profit at the expense of our communities,” Det. a/Insp Watt said.
In May 2022, the man pleaded guilty to trafficking a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug (cocaine), contrary to section 302.3(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth).
The man was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with a three-year non-parole period.
