Orange Door Coming To Outer Eastern Melbourne

The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring families across Melbourne’s outer east have access to help and support for family violence and child wellbeing, with the latest Orange Door network site one step closer.

Minister for Prevention of Family Violence Gabrielle Williams today announced a lease has been signed for the Orange Door network in outer eastern Melbourne – with a primary site in Croydon.

The new primary site will be supported by access points along with outposted and outreach services to ensure residents across the Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges local government areas have the support they need, closer to home.

The $448 million Orange Door network has helped more than 140,000 Victorian’s since first opening in 2018 including more than 55,000 children – bringing together workers from specialist family violence, child and family, Aboriginal and men’s services.

The Orange Door network is currently operating in eight regions across the state, including Goulburn, Central Highlands, Loddon, Barwon, Inner Gippsland, Northeast Melbourne, Bayside Peninsula, and Mallee. The remaining nine areas will be open by the end of next year.

The Australian-first Orange Door initiative is part of the Labor Government’s record more than $3.5 billion investment to end gendered violence in Victoria following the Royal Commission into Family Violence – more than the Commonwealth and all the states and territories combined.
