Orange Sustainable Living Week set to offer practical ideas for a healthier future

Orange Council

Orange Sustainable Living Week will be held from September 20-27, encouraging residents to reduce waste and improve energy efficiency at home and work.

The week-long celebration of sustainability will kick off with its signature event, the Orange Sustainable Living Expo, from 9am to 2pm on Sunday 21 September in the Naylor Pavilion at Orange Showground.

Orange City Council’s Environmental Sustainability Committee Chair Cr David Mallard said the expo would be hosted by the Rotary Club of Orange in partnership with Orange City Council.

“People across the world are becoming more environmentally conscious and the Sustainable Living Expo is a great way to bring together local businesses, community groups and organisations that are helping create a healthier, more sustainable future for our region.

“Residents can discover practical solutions to live more sustainably, which not only benefits the environment, but could save you money,” Cr Mallard said.

“It is a great opportunity to speak directly with experts on how to reduce your environmental impact and save money doing it, while connecting with others who care about the future of Orange.”

The Expo will feature a range of exhibitors offering specialist advice and sustainable solutions in the areas of home efficiency, circular economy, transport and biodiversity.

There will also be several presentations delivered by guest speakers throughout the event, including:

  • Bel Chellingworth, circular economy specialist: Circular living in action
  • Panel discussion and Q&A featuring representatives from Wangarang, EnviroCom and Netwaste: Orange as a Circular Community
  • Tim Forcey, Home efficiency guru: Better Homes: Healthier, Cheaper, More Comfortable
  • Orange Electrical: Heat Pumps in Cool Climates

There will also be plenty of kids’ entertainment including face painting, a scavenger hunt and colouring activities, as well as animal presentations at 10.30am and 11.30am.

The expo is free to attend and everyone is welcome to come along for an inspiring day of ideas for sustainable living in the Central West.
