  • McGowan Government to fund Ord Valley Muster in 2021, 2022 and 2023
  • 20th anniversary edition to be held May 21-29, 2021, with Jessica Mauboy headlining the Kimberley Moon Experience
  • Live music, tours, dining experiences, comedy and Aboriginal culture on offer over nine days

  • The Ord Valley Muster has secured State Government funding for the next three years, with the 20th anniversary edition of the East Kimberley’s premier cultural festival to be held from May 21-29, 2021.

Postponed this year due to COVID-19, the 2021 Ord Valley Muster will offer returning favourites and exciting new experiences to mark its 20th edition.

The festival will feature nine days of live music, tours, dining experiences and Aboriginal culture and dance – with thousands of visitors expected to travel to the region to attend.

Australian singing star Jessica Mauboy will headline the Aviair HeliSpirit Kimberley Moon Experience, a highlight of the Ord Valley Muster and traditionally the Kimberley’s biggest music concert.

Celebrity Tree Park will be the festival hub and will host seven new events in 2021, which will include an open air art gallery, live music sessions and comedy performances.

Those planning to attend next year’s festival may be able to take advantage of the recently announced discounted airfares between Perth and Kununurra – with tickets still currently available on and around the festival dates.

The State Government and Virgin Australia’s discounted fares start from $249 one way for travel between March 29, 2021 and September 30, 2021 when purchased 21 days in advance or until sold out.

The Ord Valley Muster is supported by the McGowan Government, through Tourism Western Australia and the Royalties for Regions’ Regional Events Program.

As stated by Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:

“The award-winning Ord Valley Muster is a highlight on the local calendar and a great example of the kind of unique event that really attracts tourists out to regional WA.

“Over the years the festival has attracted thousands of visitors to the Kimberley region. For example, in 2018 over 1,200 people visited Kununurra specifically for the event, injecting over 8,000 nights’ worth of stays into local hotels and accommodation providers.

“The McGowan Government’s recently announced discounted flights between Perth and Kununurra offer a great value way for Western Australians to enjoy this unique festival.

“I encourage anyone interested to get in quick while discounted tickets are still available on and around the festival dates to enjoy what will be a spectacular milestone edition of this iconic event.”

As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“The Ord Valley Muster provides a unique Kimberley experience for both locals and visitors alike, celebrating the landscape and local produce. With State Government support, the event has evolved from a simple outback concert to an award-winning festival.

“It is wonderful to see this event, at the top end of our State, attract nationally renowned artists and raising the prominence of this spectacular region.

“The event has a positive impact on the community, boosting the local economy, creating jobs, developing capabilities, highlighting indigenous culture, and promotes a sense of pride and ownership and unity in the town and region. It gives the local community an opportunity to engage with guest celebrities including the high profile national music acts.”
