CCWA Palliative and Supportive Care Education (PaSCE), WA Primary Care Cancer Education and WA Clinical Oncology Group will be collaborating to host a FREE education workshop for medical professionals across Western Australia regarding the implementation and issues of Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) in WA.
Voluntary Assisted Dying involves a process to for a person with a life limiting illness to access medication and legally choose the manner and timing of their death. As of 1 July 2021, Voluntary Assisted Dying is a choice available to eligible people under the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2019.
Our PaSCE Professional Development Education program delivers palliative and supportive care education to all health professionals across Western Australia, who are working with patients with a life-limiting illness.
You will hear from Alice Morison and Dr. Margherita Nicoletti about VAD implementation, the status of VAD in WA, as well as addressing common myths and challenges followed by questions and discussion.
A light meal and an opportunity to network will be offered at 6.30pm with the presentation beginning at 7pm. Regional medical professionals are offered to attend virtually and may join for the presentation at 7pm.
All medical professionals who attend will be put into a draw to win a free ticket (one for in person attendees and one for virtual attendees), to one of PaSCE’s most highly reviewed and recommended education sessions (Goals of Patient Care education or Eliciting and Responding to Emotional Cues). Both GoPC and EREC use an evidenced based framework to teach communication skills to clinicians to use in their conversations with patients who have a life limiting illness and their families.
