Swan Hill Rural City Council will be extending a parking meters switch off.
Mayor Bill Moar said in light of the current COVID-19 situation Council will not switch parking meters back on at this stage.
“In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Council switched off parking meters on 30 March.
“Parking meters will now remain off and we will continue to monitor the situation” he said.
Mr Moar said that while payment is not required for meters, parking signage must still be followed.
“Despite our meters being switched off, parking time limits and restrictions still apply.
“We must ensure we still have parking turnover so that customers can easily visit local businesses and access the services they need,” he said.
Council will be issuing fines to people that are not following parking signage.
