Parliament to resume with Budget 2022 to be handed down

Parliamentary sittings resume in Darwin this week with the Chief Minister and Treasurer Michael Gunner to hand down the Budget on Tuesday.

Budget 2022/23 is delivering for Territorians and our frontline workers, who work tirelessly every day to keep the Territory safe.

It will also deliver for the bush with focussing on improving remote housing, health care and education, providing access for all Territorians to these important services.

Budget 2022/23 will also include funding for projects, such as $113 million to boost our roads, to ensure the Territory remains open for business.

It’s is also anticipated that the passage of the Surrogacy Bill this sittings will provide the Northern Territory a framework that recognises surrogacy arrangements in the NT. This is a history making Bill from the Territory Labor Government and will support Territorians on their journey to parenthood.

The Public and Environmental Health Legislation Amendment Bill, which allows the government to cease the public health emergency, while retaining ability to respond appropriately to COVID-19 and its variants for up to 2 years, will also be debated.

This sittings will also see the Associations and Liquor Amendment Bill 2022 debated, as well as the Solar Project Bill, the Personal Injuries Amendment Bill, the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Amendment Bill, the Personal Injuries Amendment Bill, and the Weeds Management Legislation Amendment Bill.
