Patrol car rammed by stolen van at Parafield Gardens, South Australia

A patrol car was rammed by a stolen van at Parafield Gardens in the early hours of this morning.

About 3.15am on Monday 10 January, police were called to reports of suspicious behaviour in Parkway Circuit, Parafield Gardens. While searching the area, a patrol spotted a white panel van driving without lights on Bradman Road, Parafield Gardens.

When the patrol activated their lights and attempted to pull over the van it deliberately reversed into the unmarked police car and drove off. A few minutes later, when the patrol approached the stopped van a second time, it tried to reverse into the police car again but the patrol managed to avoid the collision. The van drove off again.

Fortunately, there were no injuries to the police officers.

The abandoned van was located a short time later on Parkway Circuit. Enquiries revealed it had been stolen from a Parafield Gardens address earlier in the evening.

During the search, another stolen vehicle, a green Ford Falcon, stolen from Mawson Lakes on 6 January, was found on Macartney Road, Parafield Gardens.

Both stolen vehicles were seized by police for forensic examination.

Investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information about these stolen vehicles that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
