PDAC presented a golden opportunity for Victorian resources

To boost visibility of Victoria’s critical minerals potential, the Geological Survey of Victoria (GSV) attended the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) conference from Sunday 3 March to Wednesday 6 March in Toronto, Canada.

The 2024 PDAC conference welcomed almost 27,000 attendees from over 130 countries, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase Victoria’s substantial mineral sand deposits containing titanium, zirconium and rare earth elements, alongside other critical mineral investment opportunities, to the world. The GSV represented Victoria as part of the Australia Minerals delegation, a national collaboration of Australia’s federal, state and territory government geoscience agencies.

“Resources Victoria had two geoscientists at PDAC, bolstering the presence of active Victorian-based mineral explorers and suppliers, promoting Victoria’s geoscience, minerals and services” said Grant Clarke, Acting Director of the Geological Survey of Victoria.

During the conference, the GSV promoted Victoria’s critical mineral and gold development opportunities, and the role state can play in the global transition to net zero.

Victoria is home to a thriving resource sector and Resources Victoria is helping to deliver the materials the state needs for tomorrow. “Our team made some outstanding connections in the industry from across the globe,” said Grant. “We look forward to maintaining those connections to strengthen our critical minerals sector and contribute to achieving Victoria’s climate change goals.”
