Pedestrian injured after being struck by car in Chatswood

A man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after he was struck by a car at Chatswood.

About 7.50pm (Thursday 27 June 2019), police attended the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Oliver Road following reports a pedestrian was seriously injured.

It appears the 55-year-old man was hit by a car driving south on the Pacific Highway while crossing the road with his wife and dog.

The man sustained spinal and head injuries and has been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

The woman received minor injuries after falling during the incident.

The injured dog was taken to the local vet.

The driver of the car, a 76-year-old man has been taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

A crime scene has been established and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Two southbound lanes on the Pacific Highway are closed as inquiries continue.
