Permit required to remove street trees

The City of Greater Bendigo would like to remind residents and landowners that they must not remove any nature strip or street trees without first obtaining the correct permission from the City.

City of Greater Bendigo Manager Parks and Open Space Paul Gangell said street trees are important City assets and must not be removed, relocated or pruned by residents or landowners without a permit.

“The City understands that sometimes trees need to be removed for various works to take place but this cannot take place unless the resident or landowner applies to the City for a Works Within a Road Reserve Permit,” Mr Gangell said.

“The best course of action is to always contact the City first to discuss any issues they may have with their street trees or visit the City’s website www.bendigo.vic.gov.au/locallaws
