The largest African community festival in Western Australia will energise Perth’s Ozone Reserve when it returns this weekend, the 3031 March 2024.
Hosted by the Organisation of African Communities WA, Jambo Africa is a free, family friendly festival that includes a dazzling display of cultural music and dance performances, fashion, arts, African drumming workshops, African street cuisine, face painting, traditional African games, and free engaging activities for children.
This exhilarating festival is one of the highlights of WA’s cultural calendar and is expected to attract more than 20,000 people from across the State and the country.
‘Jambo’ is a Swahili greeting which loosely translates as ‘Hello’, meaning the festival is a friendly invitation to engage with African cultures and WA’s African communities.
This spectacle of colour and sound has been supported by the Cook Labor Government with $55,000 through the Office of Multicultural Interests, Lotterywest and Healthway.

“More than 90,000 Western Australians were born in Africa and their influence and beautiful cultures have a positive impact on every aspect of life in our State.
“Jambo Africa is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about African cultures at one of WA’s most vibrant community events.
“This wonderful event displays the diverse cultures of the African continent and is an opportunity to experience the many talents of WA’s African communities from dance, to music, to food and more.”
