Council has endorsed its Master Plan for Pinks Reserve in Kilsyth, following extensive consultation with the community.
In February, community members were invited to make submissions on Council’s draft Master Plan for Pinks Reserve, which maps out the next 10 years of priority projects for the area.
After receiving 206 submissions from adults on the draft, with additional feedback regarding the use of Pinks Reserve by 235 children in their care, Councillors endorsed the finalised plan at their meeting on 5 May.

Walling Ward Councillor, Len Cox, said that Council would now begin prioritising projects for the reserve in coming years.
“We know that Pinks Reserve is a well-used and well-loved area for so many community members and sporting clubs,” Cr Cox said.
“The Master Plan for Pinks Reserve was the direct result of more than 700 community members sharing their thoughts with Council over the last two years, including user groups of the reserve and the Kilsyth Community Action Group, and I’m proud to say the plan is now finished and endorsed.

“We’re looking forward to getting the projects listed in the Master Plan underway, which will improve the accessibility of the reserve for women in sport, upgrade courts for all players and improving the precinct as a whole for visitors of all kinds.
“I’d also like to acknowledge the fantastic support of the State Government, which has allocated $10.5 million to support the $16.4m improvements proposed in the plan over the next 10 years.”
The Master Plan proposes improvements to all aspects of the reserve, including:
- Expansion of the Gary Tait pavilion to incorporate female friendly facilities
- An additional competition-grade court and improvements to amenities at the Kilsyth Sports Centre
- Covering of up to six outdoor netball courts (two already completed)
- Improvements to the badminton, table tennis and softball facilities
- Other works across the precinct including new lighting, fencing, paths and seating.

Feedback from community members and user groups also identified numerous improvements, included in the Master Plan as priorities for Council.
These improvements include:
- Badminton and table tennis stadium areas – wall insulation to reduce the impact of extreme hot or cold on the ability to maintain playable conditions
- Softball – repair/reinstatement of the softball nets, additional spectator seating and a batting cage area adjacent to the existing playing area fence
- Basketball – improved amenities in the basketball area including facilities to support wheelchair basketball participation
- Improved traffic flow and increased parking opportunities throughout the reserve.
The projects outlined in the Master Plan will be funded through $10.5m from the State Government over the coming 10 years, with the remainder of the project cost to be funded by Council.
