A new playground is being designed for Dromana’s Hillview Community Reserve.
The project is currently in the detailed design stage with funds being sourced for construction in future years.
It features:
- junior play area: play equipment such as a slide, climbing timber logs, talk tubes and spinners.
- senior play area: challenging climbing and ninja type activity, informal ‘hangout’ areas with large boulder seating.
Other suggested improvements include:
- roof shelter with two picnic tables overlooking the play area
- concrete connecting path network
- garden beds and tree planting.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Sam Hearn said “the need for a playground at Hillview Community Reserve was part of Council’s Play Space Strategy 2015 – 2020 and aims to benefit the community through the provision of a high play value nature and adventure-based play space”.
Seawinds Ward Councillor Antonella Celi said “the new playground for Dromana’s Hillview Community Reserve will focus on nature play, utilising natural materials like local stone and timber, encouraging climbing, jumping and running”.
Seawinds Ward Councillor Simon Brooks said “at a time where children are spending more time indoors, providing fun and interesting playgrounds give children and families an opportunity to socialise and exercise outdoors”.
Seawinds Ward Councillor Frank Martin said “we are committed to provided playspaces across the Peninsula for our local families. Playspaces bring positive benefits for the community for both wellbeing and social interaction”.
