The Carnival in the North is a key annual event in the City of Playford, promoting a community that is inclusive and accessible to all.
The event promotes services available for those living with a mental illness, carers of those living with a mental illness and anyone else interested in making a difference to reduce the stigma of mental illness.
This year’s event has the theme ‘Planting the Seeds for Good Mental Health’.
A feature that is sure to be very popular at this year’s event will be a Dog Kissing Booth, where visitors can cuddle up with a pooch, while there will also be a therapy pony present.
The 45-plus NDIS and community service providers will tailor their offering at this event around the theme.

- How to make your own wicking boxes;
- Native plants as food;
- Playford Men’s Shed;
- and much more.
This event is all about creating a more inclusive and equitable world for people living with a mental illness and is very popular in our community.

The Carnival in the North will be held at the John McVeity Centre, 182 Peachey Road, Smithfield Plains, on 9 October (10am to 1pm).
