From automatic robots and communicating machines to artificial intelligence and data analytics – the future of manufacturing is here, and help is available for Eurobodalla businesses to get on board.
Businesses can get up to speed about the newest innovations – and have direct access to some of Australia’s greatest tech minds – at a free online workshop.
Organised by AusIndustry and Eurobodalla Council, the University of Wollongong’s ‘Industry 4.0 Hub’ workshop will show how new technology can support businesses that build, manufacture or produce products.
Eurobodalla Council’s economic development manager Teresa Lever said the latest tranche of innovation had been dubbed the fourth industrial revolution and she’s keen to see Eurobodalla businesses take advantage.
“These technologies solve problems and save money,” she said. “They can help businesses think creatively about new products, value add or to solve a problem in production or a process.
“We have some amazing businesses here in growth stages – embracing technology improves the capability of our workforce and can position Eurobodalla as a smart business centre – preparing for our next generation of workers – tech-smart kids.”
Examples include using virtual reality for staff training, assessing apprentice’s skills with computerised welders, or engaging with off-site staff and specialists in real-time. It’s all about better use of skilled staff and remaining competitive.
The online workshop, on Tuesday 1 February, from 12pm to 2pm, will discuss advanced automation and robotics, including collaborative robots or cobots, machine-to-machine and human-to-machine communication, artificial intelligence and machine learning and sensor technology and data analytics. There’ll also be opportunities for manufacturers looking to test or trial a prototype.
The Industry 4.0 team is also offering one-on-one discussions for local businesses.
