Police appeal for information after Sale fatal stabbing

Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance following the fatal stabbing of a man in Sale earlier this month.

Investigators have been made aware that a video of the incident may be circulating in the local community.

It is believed the video was originally taken on Snapchat.

Police are urging anyone who has the video or who has seen it to contact Crime Stoppers, which can be done anonymously.

The appeal for information follows an incident where police were called to the intersection of York and MacAlistair Streets about 1am on Sunday, 7 May after reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers located the 38-year-old Sale man and immediately provided first aid until ambulance crews arrived, but he died at the scene.

A 20-year-old Sale man was charged with murder later that day.

He has been remanded to appear at Sale Magistrates’ Court on 19 September.

Anyone who has video of the incident or with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
