Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash in Mill Park.
Investigators have been told a silver Hyundai sedan and a blue Holden Commodore station wagon were seen racing each other along Childs Road about 12.15am Tuesday morning.
The Hyundai lost control at the intersection of Morang Drive and hit a tree.
The male driver was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries while a female passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators believe the driver of the Commodore stopped at the scene next to the crashed Hyundai before speeding off along Childs Road towards Epping.
