Major Collison Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Clayton last night (20 July).
Police have been told a silver Holden Astra was turning into Wellington Road from Blackburn Road when it collided with a Toyota maxi-cab which was travelling south on Wellington Road about 8.40pm.
There were five occupants in the maxi-cab at the time of the collision.
The driver of the maxi-cab, a 31-year-old from Noble Park, did not suffer any injuries however three passengers in the vehicle were taken to hospital with injuries.
One of the passengers was in a wheelchair in the maxi-cab at the time of the collision. The 18-year-old Springvale man later died in hospital.
The driver of the Holden Astra, a 25-year-old man from Noble Park, was uninjured.
