Police and emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal two car collision in Oakleigh East.
It is believed that two vehicles have collided with one of them catching fire on Ferntree Gully Road about 8pm.
One person, the only occupant of one of the vehicles, has died at the scene.
There were four occupants in the second vehicle, two are in a critical condition, one serious but stable and one has non-life-threatening injuries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined at this stage and the occupants are yet to be formally identified.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are at the scene and are investigating.
