Police arrest driver after Morphett Vale crash, South Australia

An alleged driver was arrested after a serious crash at Morphett Vale last night.

Emergency services responded after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Main South Road and Randell Road, Morphett Vale about 9.45pm on Wednesday 11 May.

It will be alleged the driver of the red Volkswagen, a 25-year-old Port Noarlunga South woman, left the scene and was picked up by a stolen Kia before patrols arrived.

Meanwhile, the driver of the blue Honda hatchback, a 51-year-old woman, remained trapped in her vehicle. She was eventually freed by emergency services and taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, a 28-year-old man, also sustained injury and was taken to hospital.

Assisted by witnesses to the collision, police searched the area and located the stolen Kia in the car park of a winery at Reynella.

The 25-year-old Port Noarlunga South woman was arrested and charged with aggravated due care, drive disqualified, fail to stop and render assistance and fail to truthfully answer. She was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.

The stolen Kia was seized for forensic examination and investigations are continuing.
