Police arrest man at Croydon Park, South Australia

A man will face court after dumping an alleged stolen car at Croydon Park early this morning.

Just before 1.15am on Wednesday 5 May, police saw a Honda Jazz on Exeter Terrace, Renown Park checks revealed the car had been stolen from Ridleyton late April. Police signalled for the vehicle to stop but the driver sped off. The vehicle wasn’t pursued and the patrol lost sight of the Jazz. They searched the area and located it abandoned on Alvis Road.

Patrols heard noises and located a man the suspected driver on the roof of a nearby house. After a short conversation and a few barks PD Bandit the man came down and was arrested. Officers searched the roof of the house and located cash.

The 37-year-old from Virginia was taken the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of an injury he sustained while climbing on the roof. He has since been taken to Port Adelaide cells and charged with illegal use, contravene direction to stop, unlawfully on premises and unlawful possession. The man has been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
