Police arrest man for Albert Park burglary spree

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested and charged a man yesterday, following a burglary spree in the Albert Park area last month.

The arrest follows a series of burglaries on business premises along St Kilda Road between 4 August and 24 August.

The man is alleged to have entered the business premises and stolen items valued at in excess of $150,000.

A 55-year-old St Kilda man was charged with 15 charges including burglary, theft, handling stolen goods and bail offences as well as breaching the Chief Health Officers directions.

The man was remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne County Court this morning, Thursday 3 September.

The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Disaster declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus
