Police arrest man for extreme speed, South Australia

A man will face court after being arrested for a sting of traffic offences this morning.

Just after midnight on Saturday 16 July, PolAir altered patrols to a Toyota sedan allegedly travelling 187km/h in a 90km/h speed zone along the North South Motorway at Bolivar.

PolAir tracked the Toyota as it headed onto Bolivar Road towards Salisbury.

Patrols were quickly on scene and attempted to stop the car but the driver refused and it continued travelling at speed onto Universal Road.

The car was not pursued and PolAir continued to follow the vehicle onto Martins Road and then Kings Road where it was seen to travel on the wrong side of the road to evade an activated train crossing and lowered boom gate.

Patrols attempted to spike the vehicle on Elder Smith Drive which was unsuccessful.

The vehicle continued through the western and eastern suburbs and was followed to Dundee Avenue at Holden Hill where the driver and two passengers were seen to run into a nearby house.

Patrols attended and arrested the alleged driver, a 23 -year-old-man from Holden Hill. He submitted to a breath test where he provided a positive result of 0.77. He was charged with failing to stop, dangerous driving, aggravated extreme speed, disqualified driving and drink driving. He has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 22 August.

One passenger a 22-year-old woman from Parafield Gardens was also arrested for failing to truly answer questions.
