Police arrest man for firearm and drug offences

Police have arrested a man in Caulfield in possession of firearms and drugs as part of Operation Definement.

The arrest comes after the 12-month long investigation into firearms offences.

Caulfield Divisional Response Unit members with the assistance of the Dandenong Divisional Response Unit members arrested the man after he was located at an address on Orrong Road yesterday about 11am.

Police seized five handguns, one longarm, controlled weapons, methamphetamine, cannabis, butanediol and prescription drugs.

The 31-year-old Caulfield man was charged with 22 charges including possess a traffickable quantity of firearms, prohibited person possess firearms, possess ammunition without a licence, possess proceeds of crime, drug and weapon offences.

He was served with a firearm prohibition order and remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 18 August.
